Sophie from Edinburgh’s simple look promises to become the everyday uniform of classic women

A structured blazer, suit trousers and a handbag: this is the Duchess of Edinburgh’s simple look that she turns to every morning when she doesn’t know what to wear.

The obligatory way we looked at school uniforms as children has now become the most effective remedy to save a lot of the time we spend in front of the closet thinking about what to wear every morning. Having a daily “uniform” may seem like a restrictive idea, but in reality, it is the perfect remedy to keep our style in check. A selection of basic garments , capable of withstanding season after season, will allow us to create a multitude of styles with ease. These versatile pieces will not only simplify our daily process of getting dressed , but will also ensure elegant and coherent outfits, adaptable to different occasions.

And if there’s a uniform that represents the most classic and functional elegance, it’s the one Sophie from Edinburgh has just debuted. During her visit to the Dogs for Autism association and the Treloar School and College in Hampshire (England), the Duchess chose an outfit that promises to become the favorite of the most sophisticated women . A structured navy blue blazer with gold buttons , combined with a white shirt and teal suit pants , formed a surprisingly attractive ensemble. Sophie completed her look with a set of discreet gold jewelry , light beige suede ankle boots and one of her favorite accessories: the Paola bag by Sophie Habsburg , the signature of Archduchess Sophie of Austria.

Sophie also made a statement with her choice of a burgundy manicure , breaking with the tradition of royal houses that, for decades, have banned the use of bright colours on nails . This unwritten protocol limited royals to natural-looking nail polishes and shapes. However, this rule has begun to relax, as recently demonstrated by Princess Kate Middleton or, now, the Duchess of Edinburgh. Burgundy seems to have become the new favourite colour for the great ladies of royalty, who are applying it in all kinds of styles.
