As Paris Fashion Week is in full swing, Carven has just announced the name of its new design director: Mark Thomas.
The designer transfer window is in full swing. Since 2024, the “game of musical chairs” has been accelerating at a frantic pace, and the appointments keep coming. The latest? That of Mark Thomas, named design director at Carven. The house had been without a captain since the departure of Louis Trotter last December , after three collections hailed for their practical and timeless approach. Having left to take the helm of Bottega Veneta following the departure of Matthieu Blazy — who himself joined Chanel — Carven has finally found a new balance. It was on Instagram, in all discretion, that the brand made the news official, sharing a photo of the London designer accompanied by the caption: “Carven is pleased to confirm Mark Thomas as design director.”
Who is Mark Thomas?
Mark Thomas is a London-based designer who graduated from Central Saint Martin’s. He first cut his teeth at prestigious houses such as Joseph, Helmut Lang, and Lacoste, where he worked as a senior menswear designer in 2019. In 2023, he joined Carven, becoming the right-hand man of Louise Trotter, who arrived at the brand in February of the same year. With his appointment, he is promised to continue the British designer’s vision, a continuity that will come to fruition when the spring/summer 2025-2026 collection is presented in Paris in September.
