Who is Doechii, the rising star of rap and new fashion icon?

At the 2025 Grammy Awards, Doechii became the third female rapper to win Best Rap Album. Her performance went viral and showed her huge impact on fashion.

Her name is on everyone’s lips: Doechii reigns over rap and fashion. By winning the award for Best Rap Album, she makes history as only the third woman to win this distinction, after Lauryn Hill in 1997 with the Fugees and Cardi B in 2019. A victory that marks a turning point for this artist with a style as hard-hitting as it is unclassifiable. Since her explosion with “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake”, Doechii has continued to push the boundaries. Originally from Tampa, Florida, she started on SoundCloud, before being propelled to the forefront of the scene. Today signed to the prestigious label of Kendrick Lamar and SZA (two artists who dominate the top of the charts in the United States), she shakes up the codes with a clever mix of incisive flow, impeccable singing and crazy universe.

An icon in the making, she doesn’t just shine solo. Recently, she hit the mark with a guest appearance on Katy Perry’s latest album and established herself as a judge on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” further asserting her status as an LGBTQ+ icon and a must-see star.

A striking stylistic signature

But Doechii doesn’t just stand out for her music: her fashion style is just as striking. Nicknamed the “Marsh Princess” in homage to her Floridian roots, she mixes futuristic glamour with 2000s streetwear inspirations. On the red carpet, she dares to wear avant-garde silhouettes and establishes herself as a true trendsetter.

At the 2022 BET Awards, she dazzled in a gold draped gown, reminiscent of liquid gold. More recently, she stood out in Thom Browne: at the 2025 Grammy Awards, she caused a sensation in a sculptural gray striped dress, worn over a white button-down shirt and matching tie. A bold look, praised by fashion critics.

On stage, Doechii doesn’t shy away from anything: studded leather, animal prints, Afrofuturist influences… She multiplies collaborations with emerging designers and luxury brands, infusing raw and exuberant energy into each of her appearances.
