Things are not going well for the production of The Witcher series. While Henry Cavill will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth from season 4, another essential character of the series will have to change face…
Oh, oh… There’s potion in the gas on the set of season 4 of The Witcher. While the Netflix series, adapted from the books by Andrzej Sapkowski, was a real phenomenon when it was released in 2019, the soufflé keeps falling. After a season 3 was widely criticized by fans and a first spin-off, Blood Legacy, which flopped in terms of audience, the production had to find ways to get back on track. However, the task is difficult when the central part of the fiction, Henry Cavill, decides to leave it due to script differences and the public’s suspicion of his replacement by Liam Hemsworth, the star of Hunger Games. And we learn in this month of October 2024 that the role of Geralt of Rivia will not be the only one to be replaced…
The Witcher : This flagship character will change face after the departure of its actor
British media outlet Radio Times recently confirmed that Kim Bodnia, who plays Vesemir, was leaving the series . ” Kim will not be returning to play Vesemir as his current filming schedule did not match Netflix’s filming schedule for season 4 of The Witcher,” explained the actor’s spokesperson. The Danish actor, best known for his role in the series Killing Eve, arrived in The Witcher universe in season 2 to play Vesemir, Geralt’s mentor among the Witchers, who notably trained Ciri (Freya Allan) in combat. His character was supposed to return in season 4, but the production must launch a casting call to replace his actor. According to information from Radio Times, the filming of the F1 movie for Apple TV+ with Brad Pitt conflicted with that of the Netflix series.
The Witcher season 4: when can we expect to see the rest of the Netflix series?
This information does not support an upcoming release of season 4. As a reminder, season 3 was released in June 2023 and it was only in spring 2024 that Netflix announced the start of filming for the fourth salvo. The Witcher will therefore not return until 2025 at best. The question is whether Netflix has started filming seasons 4 and 5 together. Indeed, the platform announced that season 5 would be the last and that preparations for these last two chapters had been launched at the same time. It is therefore possible that Netflix will opt for consecutive filming to avoid new departures. The streaming platform had already operated in the same way for the filming of the series Sweet Tooth, to prevent the main actors, children, from aging too much during each season filming.
