A few days ago, a controversy arose over the naming of Angela Aguilar as Woman of the Year by Glamour magazine. Despite the accusations, on Wednesday, November 13, the singer was present at an event in Mexico City, accompanied by the arm of her husband, also an interpreter, Christian Nodal. There she was recognized by the publication, in addition to giving a speech of thanks and a message of sisterhood.
At first, it was thought that Angela had missed the event, since the red carpet was also attended by other award winners, such as actress Mabel Cadena, singer Dulce María, performer Bu Cuarón, television presenter Galilea Montijo, singer St. Vincent and members of the Mexican National Rhythmic Gymnastics Ensemble. On the red carpet, Angela was the great absentee and it was believed that she had not attended the event, but once it began, the young singer was seen with her husband, with whom she will celebrate four years of marriage in just a few days.
For the occasion, the singer of songs like Mis amigas las Flores looked gorgeous in an asymmetrical nude-colored dress with a large slit in the skirt. She wore discreet makeup as well as her accessories. When she went to collect her award, she said a few words to acknowledge being recognized as one of the most important women of the year by the publication, as well as assuring that she did not take this honor lightly; quite the opposite.
“I am very grateful to be here tonight, I am grateful to Glamour for this incredible recognition, I do not take that same honor lightly, and that is why, every time I get on stage, I try to represent Mexico in the best way possible, the country that has given me so much and that I love with all my being, I believe that there are many times when words are not enough, the only thing I can say is that I am truly grateful,” she said.

In that same speech, Angela also expressed her gratitude to her family and friends, who have supported her throughout her career. “I am grateful to my family, to my husband, to my friends, to all the women who paved the way for me to be here tonight. I only wanted to be a singer, and thanks to you I am achieving it.”
Continuing to highlight the support of her loved ones, Angela made a special mention of her paternal grandmother, the late Flor Silvestre, who has been one of her greatest inspirations in life. “As my grandmother, Flor Silvestre, used to say, ‘Thank you for life that has given me so much.'”
Jacqueline Martínez’s (Chamonix) Instagram account shared some photos of Nodal and Ángela at the event. We could see them together again at the Latin Grammys since Ángela is one of the night’s nominees; she is nominated this year in the Album Of The Year category for Bolero and will also perform at the gala.
‘I’m nobody to give advice’
On stage, Aguilar took the microphone to address a few words to women with hope for a better future for the next generations. “I’m nobody to give advice, but I want you to never silence your voice, I want you to always be genuinely yourself, I want you to feel in control of your narrative and of your person and that by supporting each other we can achieve something better; for all the girls who are watching us, I repeat, don’t silence your voice; thanks to you, I have more memories than life and I take this as one more who, as many of my colleagues say, I don’t think I deserve it, but I will work to do it, thank you very much,” she concluded.
