London Fashion Week comes to a close in style with the iconic British house giving new life to leggings by teaming them with elegant boots.
On Monday, February 24, Burberry closed London Fashion Week by unveiling its fall/winter 2025-2026 collection. For his fifth season, Daniel Lee invites you to leave the hustle and bustle of London to explore the English countryside, where fresh air and long walks rhyme with elegance. On the catwalk, silhouettes embodied by Naomi Campbell and Lila Moss follow one another, draped in cozy wools, enveloping trench coats, oversized scarves and delicate kerchiefs. But this year, the artistic director dares a bold stylistic bet. After surprising the previous season by pairing a sparkling dress with a winter parka , he revisits this time the British equestrian heritage by combining leggings with high boots . The opening of the show immediately sets the tone: leggings worn with a short fluffy jacket, an enveloping scarf and dark brown thigh-high boots. The rest is part of this same dynamic: leggings paired with burgundy boots and a velvet bomber jacket, a checked version paired with a green leather jacket, or an embroidered cropped jacket, enhanced with sophisticated leather gloves. A subtle way to rehabilitate leggings, this long-maligned sportswear piece, and to give them new legitimacy in the contemporary wardrobe.
Leggings and boots: the winning winter combo
Long seen as an anti-fashion piece, leggings have deconstructed stereotypes in recent seasons, establishing themselves for their unrivaled comfort and chic potential revealed on the catwalks. For fall-winter 2025-2026, they have not said their last word. Relegated to the background for too long, their comeback persists and becomes the basis of a daring fashion association: worn with high boots, or even thigh-high boots, they gain in elegance. The trick? Pair them with sophisticated pieces to counterbalance their sportswear DNA: structured and belted peplum jackets, pea coats or short trench coats . Some celebrities, like Bella Hadid or Kendall Jenner , have already adopted the trend. Seen at Burberry and Khaite, it remains to be seen whether Milan and Paris will confirm the phenomenon.
