Essential for several months, our classic sweaters are transformed into couture pieces thanks to a few original touches seen on the catwalks.
What’s fascinating about a runway show isn’t just the clothes themselves, but how designers and their stylists put these pieces together. They often reinterpret our wardrobe staples, giving our classics a new lease of life. This little trick can easily be adopted at home, especially with our seasonal sweaters, those pieces that we wear over and over again and that can eventually tire us out. To revive these basics, designers reveal different tips for styling them and giving them a new lease of life.
Popularized in the 50s by Audrey Hepburn, the turtleneck and lightweight cardigan combo became the must-have winter layering piece on the fall-winter 2024-2025 catwalks. Tod’s interpreted it in a minimalist way, with a gray turtleneck layered over two matching cardigans, one closed and the other open, creating a bold play on layers. This look was completed with low-rise wool pants, a buckled belt, leather gloves and a bag worn under the arm. For his part, Tommy Hilfiger brought a touch of color with a bright red turtleneck under a brown and white striped cardigan. This layering was accompanied by a pleated belted skirt and high leather boots, for a modernized preppy chic style.

The sweater tied on the shoulders
Cozy and enveloping, the scarf sweater has become the new companion of seasoned fashionistas. But if you don’t want to invest in this 2 or 1 sweater with an integrated scarf, it’s easy to recreate it yourself. In New York, Michael Kors gives us a perfect demonstration: in a total mouse gray look, a model wears a classic sweater, enhanced by a second knitted sweater, ingeniously tied to create the scarf effect.
