Who does designer Thom Browne give flowers to at the end of his shows?

During New York Fashion Week, the American designer did not fail in his tradition: he offered a bouquet of flowers to a very special guest at the time of the greeting.

Who said fashion was a world devoid of feelings? Thom Browne, legendary New York designer, proves to us at each of his shows that clothes are great, but love always wins. On February 11, he presented his fall-winter 2025-2026 ready-to-wear collection during Fashion Week. A series of 65 silhouettes in the pure vein of the designer: revisited suits and tailoring, mix-and-match of checkered prints and a preppy aesthetic shaken up… A collection applauded by critics, but it was especially the finale that went viral on social networks.

As he greets the guests, Thom Browne — dressed in his iconic Bermuda shorts and knee-high socks — appears with a bouquet of white flowers, probably made of paper, which he hands to his partner, Andrew Bolton. A touching gesture, a few days before Valentine’s Day, has become a real ritual at the end of his shows. Indeed, each season, the designer moves his guests by offering flowers, or a gift, to his beloved.

Thom Browne and Andrew Bolton, the power couple of fashion

While he has never really spoken about the meaning of the gesture, media reports say it symbolizes the love and appreciation Thom Browne feels for Andrew Bolton. The designer met the curator of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2011. The latter is behind some of the museum’s most notable exhibitions, including “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty” and “Camp: Notes on Fashion.”
