Victim of harassment since she won the Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais 2024 sash and will compete in Miss France 2025, Sabah Aib spoke out on her social networks to defend herself. She was able to count on the support of the other candidates.
Racism, even at Miss France… While the sublime Sabah Aib was crowned Miss Nord-Pad-de-Calais 2024 last weekend, she did not think that her title would provoke so many reactions. Indeed, the one who will defend her region in the coming weeks for the Miss France 2025 competition, has been the subject of violent racist insults since her coronation.
Aged 18, Sabah Aib , who we will be able to find with the other candidates who aspire to the title of Miss France on December 14 at Futuroscope, wanted to speak out on her Instagram account.
Sabah Aib, her rant before Miss France 2025
First, she denounces the situation she has been a victim of since her coronation. “Since I was elected Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais, I have faced a wave of racist hatred on social networks because of my origins” , she lamented on her Instagram account.
Still in an Instagram story, the 18-year-old assures that her “name is part of [her] identity and it has nothing to do with [her] nationality”. “France is a multicultural country, and having a name that comes from elsewhere does not change the fact that I am French. I was born in France, just like my parents, we consider ourselves French first and foremost. My origins are part of my history, but they do not define who I am” , she defends herself once again.
According to the candidate for the title of Miss France 2025, her election remains “proof that [her] region is rich in diversity and values, and [she is] proud to represent it”. “Hate has no place in our society, and I will continue to carry this title with pride, determination and respect for all. We are all equal, regardless of our name or origins. These attacks are only a reflection of ignorance and jealousy,” she concluded, very upset.
The enormous support of her competitors and ex-Miss
Fortunately, she was able to count on the support of the other candidates of the future edition, but not only. ” It is unacceptable that in 2024, we are still at this stage ” , for example, denounced Marie Dieng who would compete in Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais 2024 like Sabah Aib.
For her part, Emma Lédé, also a candidate in the regional competition, let slip: “Racism has no place in 2024. We must evolve! Do not go and provoke hatred where there should be none. It does not matter who we are or what we represent” .
” I do not understand that in 2024, this can still exist. You have all our support “, and “STOP RACISM” , respectively said Melyssa Thelu, Miss Calais 2022, and Julie Olszewski, a candidate
in the regional competition this year.
