Denis Law at Manchester United: a closer look at his career

During his time with the English club (from 1962 to 1973), Denis Law truly shone with his performances since in 404 appearances, he scored nearly 237 goals. Feats that then placed him in third position among the best scorers in the club’s history, behind Wayne Rooney and Bobby Charlton, who died in October 2023. Moreover, if the one that the fans affectionately called ” The King” joined Manchester United in 1962, he had first proven himself within the Italian club Torino FC.

He had joined the English club following the Munich plane crash, which occurred on February 6, 1958, during which former Manchester United players lost their lives. On social networks, the club also wished him a vibrant (and final) tribute. ” Everyone at Manchester United mourns the loss of Denis Law, the King of the Stretford End, who has passed away at the age of 84. Our deepest sympathies go out to Denis’ family and many friends. His memory will live on forever ,” it read.

Denis Law: a player with multiple awards

During his career, Denis Law received many awards. The most prestigious of them is, without a shadow of a doubt, the Ballon d’Or, obtained in 1964. But that’s not all. He was also crowned, twice, during the English championships (in 1965 then in 1967) and also lifted the European Cup of Champion Clubs, in 1968. So many consecrations that encouraged the football club to erect a statue in his image in front of the legendary stadium of Old Trafford.

Everyone at Manchester United is mourning the loss of Denis Law, the King of the Stretford End, who has passed away, aged 84.

Our deepest condolences go out to Denis’s family and many friends. His memory will live on forever more.
